After two days of struggling, Johnson played superb golf and closed it out with four straight birdies. Jimenez, the oldest player competing in this Ryder Cup at age 46, won in what was likely his last appearance with an incredible sand shot and short putt on No. 15. Woods was nine-under par, played his most superb golf of the year, and had a run of five birdies and one eagle in seven holes. McDowell, Europe's anchor singles player, won the cup with a remarkable downhill, slick putt of 20 feet on No. 16 to go two up with two holes to play. On No. 17, Mahan hit his tee shot short, then chunked his chip off an open fairway, barely missed his 30-foot putt just off the green, and conceded to McDowell and Europe. Fowler was three down with three holes to go and got the half point with a closing three birdies. His 12-footer on 18 left the final result of this hugely dramatic final day to the last match of the day, Hunter Mahan of the U.S. versus Graeme McDowell.
